Arena District remains hub of development activity with these 4 projects to watch

The area outside the Arena District core has become attractive for developers seeking proximity to sports and entertainment venues along Nationwide Boulevard.

The downtown neighborhood began 25 years ago with an investment in what would become Nationwide Arena. Now the district has expanded to 200 acres with a mix of office, residential, restaurant and entertainment options, plus two more sports arenas in Columbus Clippers’ Huntington Park and Lower.com Field, home of the Columbus Crew.

The area around Lower.com Field is one that is seeing continued investment from a new crop of developers, with projects such as the Municipal Light Plant and the ongoing work at Astor Park.

On the north side of the district, Park Street is a flurry of activity with construction of the 32-story Merchant Building behind the North Market, and several new bars and restaurants planned around the AC Hotel.
