NRI announces downtown Des Moines development

COLUMBUS — Nationwide Realty Investors (NRI) announced today that it will lead the development of more than 650,000 square feet of office space for Nationwide Insurances’ downtown Des Moines office campus this summer. NRI President Brian Ellis made the announcement.

The Nationwide Locust Street campus project will be completed in two phases:

  • The first phase is a 286,000 square-foot expansion of the 1100 Locust Street building.
  • The second phase includes construction of a new 370,000 square-foot building directly to the west of the existing building.

The $142-million expansion will house Nationwide property and casualty insurance operations, including Allied Insurance, Nationwide Agribusiness and Nationwide Insurance. Once completed, the Nationwide campus on Locust Street will encompass more than 1,188,000 square feet of office space.

NRI is the real estate development affiliate of Nationwide Insurance. Directly and through joint ventures, NRI owns more than $1 billion in real estate investments.
